From Cancun you will fly to the airport of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. You will notice from the air that this city is HUGE. It holds about 22 million people in the whole metropolitan area and is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. The altitude of this city is about 2.200m above sea level. So it might be that you will feel this. You will have free time to start already exploring a bit, depending on time of arrival.
Some recommendations from our side:
Visit one of the many museums Mexico City boasts. (tip: Frida Kahlo house in Coyoacan)
Head down to Reforma to walk around the avenue (holds financial district and Angel of Independence)
Visit the Torre Latino and get an amazing view of the city from above
Head down to Xochimilco (quite a travel to make, and best to do in the weekends)
Or just wander around in the neighbourhood of the hotel.

Mexico City 1n Mexico City
Today, you will be exploring the city center with an experienced and licensed guide. Based on your interest, your guide will take you to the most interesting places the historical center has to offer.
Some of the options you should visit, are:
– Cathedral at Zócalo square
– Palacio de Bellas Artes (and the Torre Latino you can admire from the square)
– Templo Mayor (the city center is built upon ruins of a Meso American city called Tenochtitlan)
– Palacio Nacional (with the famous murals of Diego Rivera)
– Museo de Correos
Just allow the guide to take you through the streets of Mexico City and enjoy the fine architecture, which we are sure you will recognize if you have been to Spain, the history of the City, which used to be one huge lake, etc. Also notice the way the buildings are standing. Because the city was built on a lake, you can see some cracks in the houses, or some houses tilted to a side, like they are sinking.
After the tour, we recommend you to go the Casa de Azulejos on the Avenida 5a de Mayo and have a lunch in the magnificent interior, or have the guide recommend a place for you.
If you like, we can arrange for a Lucha Libre tour for the evening, where you will be getting a Mezcal tasting, along with a guided tour to a Lucha Libre fight night in the largest fighting arena in Mexico. Only available on certain days, so please check with us if you are interested! Also be advised that this tour will take place in group and not privately!

Mexico City – Teotihuacan – Basilica de Guadalupe – Mexico City 1n in Mexico City
Today you will explore together with us the city where men converted themselves into Gods, also known as the ancient city of Teotihuacan (literal Nahuatl translation). Still a lot of questions are unanswered regarding the Teotihuacans. Where they came from, why they abandoned the city, etc. This is because there were not too many writings found on the site, while on other archeological sites, you could find stories on the stela’s etc., such as in Palenque. That makes this city so impressive. Also the size is huge, compared with the size of ancient Babylon or Constantinople, holding about 200.000 inhabitants, making it a bigger city than ancient Rome! Explore the housing structure, the pyramid of the Sun, the pyramid of the Moon and the hidden Pyramid of the feathered snake (Quetzalcoatl). This site is together with Chichen Itza the most visited archeological site in Mexico. You will be in awe and inspired after visiting this place!
After visiting the archeological site, you will either have lunch, if you have included this option in your tour. If not, you will continue to the Basilica de Guadalupe. The second most visited Basilica in the world, after the Vatican in Rome. A lot of Mexicans come to the Basilica as a pilgrimage paying their tributes and respects to our Lady of Guadalupe. On weekends, and special occasions, such as Easter, Christmas etc. this place is packed with devote believers. You will notice on the square the old Basilica, and the new Basilica built be a famous Mexican architect in the 70ies. The new Basilica holds about 10.000 people.
You will go back to Mexico City with a better understanding of the Teotihuacan civilization and the importance of our Lady Guadalupe for the Mexicans.

Mexico City – Izta-Popo National Park – Puebla 1n Puebla
After some city time, you will love this trip to the Izta-Popo national park. You will hiking a small part up the Iztaccihuatl (the dormant lady) that is a non-active volcano. The Iztaccihuatl is right next to the mighty and active volcano, called the Popocatépetl. The story behind these volcanoes and the names, is fascinating. A true love story, as the guide can tell it so well. The Popocatépetl is the 2ndhighest peak in the whole of Mexico. It is a truly spectacular view as you are making your way up the Iztaccihuatl. Hopefully the weather is nice, because seeing the volcano in a clear blue sky will be one of the most amazing views you will see in your life.
After the climb, and the return, you will be driven to the nearby city of Puebla. You can enjoy the remaining of the day and evening in the city.
